National services

You may want further advice or information on any aspect of parenting or childcare. There are many services in Scotland and across the UK which may be able to help or advise you. There are services listed that are outside Scotland but if they can't help, they may have details of Scottish counterparts you can contact.

Where they exist, websites, email addresses and telephone helpline numbers have been included.

A very useful service which provides information about where to find help is available through your local health education or promotion unit which is listed under ‘Health’ in your phone book.

Alternatively, you can call NHS Inform on: 0800 22 44 88 (all calls are free of charge 8am–10pm, 7 days). Your public library is also an invaluable source of information.
